Establish a national landscape-scale monitoring system for humidity and microclimate conditions to understand how vegetation, soil, water bodies, land use, and atmospheric conditions interact at local scales.
Monitor changes in air humidity, soil moisture, temperature, evapotranspiration, surface conditions, and local water availability across different landscape types.
Detect the effects of forest loss, land degradation, urbanization, agricultural practices, water loss, and restoration activities on local moisture and microclimatic conditions.
Establish a continuous evidence base for assessing whether watershed and landscape restoration is actually improving moisture retention and local environmental conditions.
Identify hot, dry, and moisture-deficit areas where restoration or water-retention interventions may provide significant ecological benefits.
Provide data to support the Forest–Water–Humidity Cycle framework and enable adaptive management based on observed changes rather than assumptions.
Establish long-term monitoring capable of distinguishing short-term weather variation from persistent landscape-scale changes.
